The checked jacket

// by

You can’t go wrong with a checked jacket for winter. This season is all about check pattern and it is here to stay for spring. It is cool, effortless and super versatile. In today’s blogpost, I will show you how I like to style season’s new must-have

shop my look:

checked jacket – Gestuz
pullover worn as a scarf – Allude
jeans – Citizens of Humanity
boots – Balenciaga
bag – Chanel

Gestuz – Havana jacket

When you’re wearing a checked jacket, you don’t need to add much more to create an interesting look. It is casual and cool and an outstanding statement piece. A classic check pattern is one of those patterns that never quite go out of fashion and that are suitable for almost every occasion. A real staple for every woman’s wardrobe. Super stylish and easy to wear.

My new Gestuz jacket is a key piece of the Pre Spring’19 collection. I really like it when designers manage to revitalize old trends and give them a modern update. The check pattern for spring is refreshing and comes along in new and exciting color combinations. New soft colors to keep the winter prints exciting for spring. I really like to wear neutral and earthy colors in winter. In spring however, I prefer fresh and soft shades. I really love the harmonious combination of beige and light blue in this jacket. It has a slightly oversized fit, a classic collar and two big attached pockets at the front. The check pattern has something unexpected and very special to it. I guess this won’t be my last outfit with this beautiful jacket.

Wear it as a scarf

What you saw on numerous catwalks for the autumn and winter season: you knot a sweater as a scarf-replacement around your neck. It’s super easy and the effect is really great. Lay the sweater casually over your shoulders and knot the sleeves around your neck. The sleeves shouldn’t be hidden. They are to show that it’s actually a sweater and not a proper scarf. This new way of wearing a pullover instantly upgrades your look and adds an extra bit of coolness to your outfit. I really like to reinterpret familiar garments. I decided to stay true to one color scheme and went for a beige Allude pullover. Doesn’t it perfectly match the check pattern?

My look in details

I decided to wear a sophisticated, yet comfortable look. It is the perfect outfit for a business meeting, a day at the office or even a coffee date in the city –  if you manage to walk on heels all day. Denim is always a good idea. I chose this light blue pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans. I love the classic style and the slim boot cut leg. Whenever I wear boot cut jeans, I instantly go for heels instead of flats. I like to look put-together and stylish but without too much fuss. My pointy Balancing boots look great with the flared pants. Add a classic Chanel bag, et voilà you’re ready to go.
