Florals in winter

// by

We are still in February and have weeks and weeks before we see some beautiful blooms and the first pretty flowers. For those, who can’t wait any longer, floral dresses are the best way to get over our winter depression and feel fresh again. I decided to let a bit of spring into my winter wardrobe and wore my new Dorothee Schumacher dress for the first time.

Floral dresses in winter

Floral dresses are definitely not reserved strictly for spring and summer. They also perfectly work in winter, especially when they come with long sleeves and a midi length. Don’t wear them exclusively in summer, embrace layering and start wearing your favorite dresses now.

You can wear flowers in many forms: discreet and loud. They have a timeless appeal and don’t always have to be bright and super girly. To me, winter isn’t the season for bright colors. For my winter look, I decided to go for dark flowers and a heavy wintery red. The dark floral pattern is perfect to wear in winter. Floral dresses will be just as much on the hotlist for spring, as they are right now. It’s definitely worth to invest now and wear your favorite new dress cross-season.

The Dorothee Schumacher dress

I am wearing this beautiful Dorothee Schumacher dress for my winter layering look. A real statement dress with a cool flower print. It has a loose fit, yet tailored silhouette, a flattering v-neck and long sleeves. I truly love silk dresses. They create a flowing and very feminine silhouette. The long sleeves and midi style help balance the effect of the springlike flowers and remind us that it’s still very cold outside.

My look in details

Layers are important. I decided to wear a basic white shirt underneath my dress to stay warm. It’s not only super comfortable but also underlines what season we are actually still in. I love adding different textures to my look. The long Aritzia shirt jacket definitely makes my dress winter appropriate. I have a thing for utility-inspired jackets. They instantly add an urban touch to your outfit. Big front patch pockets, dropped shoulders and an oversized fit. It has the perfect casual and easy shape and can be styled in many different ways. I decided to wear it open, to casually layer it over the dress. The wool adds soft structure and is a great contrast to the delicate silk. I have created a very feminine look with the dress and the delicate heels. The utility- jacket is perfect to balance my whole look and add a casual touch.

My Hermès Kelly bag is one of my favorite wardrobe staples. It’s classic, timeless and always elegant. I like how the scarf picks up the color from my dress and creates an harmonious look.

Heels are always a good idea, especially when paired with socks. My Alaia heels are beyond comfortable and emphasize my feminine outfit. You either hate socks in heels or love it. I have to admit, that I really like it. It’s a great way of wearing your favorite summer heels in winter. Pairing heels with socks in the same color, has the effect of a cool ankle boot. Fashion forward and warm: what else can you expect?

    Same here — feeling like wearing florals recently! Even if the real spring is not completely here yet in Milan. I love how you’re wearing sandals with socks, looks great with this outfit! 🙂
